Test Score Performance

Recently released CCRPI results show DeKalb middle schools with
best overall growth results

Middle schools in the DeKalb County School District (DCSD) demonstrated overall growth of 4.6 percentage points according to the recently released College & Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI). Statewide, all middle schools experienced an average loss of 1.4 percentage points. The highest growth rates for middle schools in DCSD are: Stephenson* (+15.7 points), Columbia* (+14.5 points), Salem* (+7.8 points), Cedar Grove* (+6.7 points), and Druid Hills* (+6.6 points).

Significant growth from the previous year was also shown in the following schools:

  • High Schools: Towers* (+8.1 points), Lakeside (+6.5 points), Lithonia* (+6.0 points), Redan* (+3.5 points), and Chamblee (+1.0 point).
  • Elementary Schools: Indian Creek* (+22.7), Briar Vista* (+22.0 points), Pleasantdale* (+21.7 points), Chapel Hill* (+19.0), and Wynbrook (+14.0 points).

In academic achievement, the leading high schools in overall CCRPI results are: the DeKalb Early College Academy* (96.7), Arabia Mountain (82.7), Chamblee Charter (79.6), Dunwoody (73.1) and Lakeside (72.0). Each of these schools scored higher than the averages for the state (68.3) and DCSD (59.5).

The highest achieving middle schools in DCSD are: Wadsworth Magnet (98.3), the DeKalb School of the Arts (95.5), Kittredge Magnet (92.5), Peachtree (79.9), and Stephenson* (75.9). Average scores for the state and DCSD are 73.1 and 64.5, respectively.

Among elementary schools, the top performers are: Austin (95.4), Fernbank (94.9), Vanderlyn (93.4), Wadsworth Magnet (93.3), Kittredge Magnet (90.9) and Montgomery (86.8). Each of these schools scored significantly higher than the averages for the state (72.6) and DCSD (61.5).

“Last year the state recalibrated its performance index to place a greater emphasis on academic growth and these results reflect the change,” said Superintendent Michael Thurmond. “This has been and continues to be a team effort with dedicated teachers, involved parents and strong support staff. I anticipate our progress will continue.”

NOTE: According to the Georgia Department of Education (GDOE), the DeKalb County School District is one of approximately 12 school systems with incomplete data. As new information is provided by GDOE, it will be released to the public.
