I am Cammie Neill, your Principal at Briar Vista Elementary School (BVE).  On behalf of the staff at BVE, I am happy to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year.  This school year will include a start like no other in the history of education with a Virtual Opening.  I have served in DeKalb County School District for the past 18 years which includes 5 years as a teacher and 13 years as a building level school administrator.  This will be the start of my 8th year as the Principal of Briar Vista. 

The safety and well-being of our staff, students, and parents is my major priority.  I look forward to a partnership with you to ensure our children will achieve to their highest potential.  We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school.  As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we will do our very best to provide a high quality educational experience.  During this year, we ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she: 

• Attends school through digital and face-to-face instruction 

• Completes all assignments given by teachers 

• Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills 

My goal for this year is to support and encourage our parents, children and staff members to embrace the new educational experiences through virtual learning and face-to-face learning with collaboration efforts at home and within the school building.  I am excited to be working with stakeholders to continue a tradition of excellence in academic, creative, emotional, and social growth for our students. I am committed to supporting the Briar Vista Staff in providing a high quality, standards-based education that is focused on student learning and data driven results. It is an honor to be a member of the Briar Vista Community!
