Dear Students, Parents, and Staff, Welcome back to school!

We hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer break. As we enter a new academic year, we are thrilled to welcome you all back to our school community. Our school website serves as a hub of information, communication, and resources for students, parents, and staff alike. It is a great space where we can connect, stay updated, and engage in meaningful collaboration throughout the year.

We are committed to providing an enriching and supportive learning environment for our students. On our website, you will find important announcements, school news, and event calendars to keep you informed about the various activities and opportunities happening at our school.

For parents, the website is a vital tool for staying connected with your child's education. You will have access to important documents, such as school policies, handbooks, and forms. We encourage you to regularly visit the website to stay informed about school-wide initiatives, upcoming parent-teacher conferences, and ways you can be involved in your child's educational journey.

We invite you to explore our website and make the most of the valuable resources it offers. We are excited to embark on this new academic year, filled with endless possibilities, growth, and success. Together, let us create a vibrant and inclusive learning community where every student can thrive.

Welcome back to school, and here's to a fantastic year ahead! Warm regards,

Assistant Principal

Greetings Briar Vista families!

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am excited to be embarking upon my 5th year at Briar Vista Elementary and my 24th year of experience working with elementary and middle school students. I graduated from Florida A&M University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, obtained my M.S. in Elementary Education with a focus on Reading and Literacy from Walden University and my Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. In addition to my tenure as a classroom teacher, I have also served as an Instructional Support Specialist for DeKalb County Schools.

I am eager and excited about what promises to be a great school year with academic experiences that are rigorous, relevant, and help our students make real-world connections. As your Assistant Principal, I am dedicated to serving with passion and my goal is to foster an environment where all students feel like integral members of our learning community.

My door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to call or email me to discuss any concerns you might have throughout the school year. I look forward to working with you as a team to help each student at Briar Vista reach their goals and have a successful school year!

Counselors- Ms. Ria Opore

Ms. Ria Opore
Greetings Briar Vista Families,

I am extremely excited to work as your children's school counselor this academic year! This is my 22nd year in Education! I continue to enjoy helping ALL students find creative ways to develop academic, personal/social, and career readiness skills. My goal is to guide students into making healthy choices and keep them safe, as they thrive to become well-rounded and mature adolescents. In order to achieve this, I pay close attention to students' mental health and teach them coping skills through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Activities, maintaining positive relationships with their families, and provide outside community resources for additional support.

I have also been a certified teacher for 12 successful and rewarding years. I am used to working in a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, Title I Schools, and Schools of Excellences.  Education has always been important to me! I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (P-5) from Clark Atlanta University, my Master of Arts in School Counseling (P-12) from Argosy University, and my Education Specialist in School Counseling (P-12) from the University of West Alabama. I worked very hard and graduated Summa Cum Laude!

I also love spending time with my family and friends! I have four children: a daughter who is a senior at Kennesaw State University, two sons in middle school, and one son in elementary school.  Always take time to enjoy your family and the fun things in life!

Let's have a fantastic school year!

Sincerely,
Ria K. Opore
